Job Description

Scope of Position

To look after the safety and well-being of all guests and colleagues making sure they cause no harm to themselves and others due to unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. To train all colleagues and officers on all aspects of security and safety with full responsibility of Emergency Response Plans.

Responsibilities

To look after the safety and well-being of all guests and colleagues making sure they cause no harm to themselves and others due to unsafe conditions or unsafe acts. To train all colleagues and officers on all aspects of security and safety with full responsibility of Emergency Response Plans.
• Implement, develop and continue all training on Fire/ Evacuation Response Plan including practical firefighting
• Implement, develop and continue all training on outside threat response plans
• Provide and educate all security officers on training programs already set in place by the Director of Security
• Know thoroughly all response plans, crisis management plans and immediate actions
• Maintain all Standard Operating and Local Standard Operating Procedures as related to the Security department
• Train, further educate and orient all Security Officers under your direct responsibility
• Impart ACCOR policies and procedures on all Security Officers
• Impart the “Code of Ethics” on all security officers
• Participate in training sessions as provided by the hotel’s Human Resources Department
• Participate in all Health and Safety meetings and be a permanent member of the health and safety team
• Contribute to improvement and development of the Security Department with written recommendations submitted to the Director of Security
• Attend to all areas of the colleague survey making sure the standards of the Security Department are upheld
• Liaise with Government authorities and be familiar with all regulations
• Control all security shifts professionally and responsibly
• Be subject to a 3 months review after signing this document, of all of the above to ensure expectations are at an exceeding or mastering level

Health and Safety
• Ensure a strong health and safety culture, directing and overseeing workplace safety programs to regulation compliance, employee awareness and an accident free workplace guided by South African Labour Law.
• A member of the Hotel’s Sustainability Program/Planet 21.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• 2 years minimum in Security Management
• 5 years minimum in Facility/Workplace security
• Diploma/ Certification in Security programs or Law Enforcement etc.
• Fire safety certification
• First aid certification
• Able to adapt to a multi-national environment
• Occupational Health and Safety certification highly regarded
