Job Description
Well-established OEM designer and manufacturer of Steel Structures in Klerksoord, Pretoria North is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead their fabrication, machining and assembly operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

About the role
You'll take full responsibility for day-to-day workshop operations across a large-scale fabrication. You'll manage production schedules, quality standards, and a skilled team of fabricators, fitters, and welders, ensuring equipment is built, assembled and tested in-house to spec and on time.

Key responsibilities
• Plan and oversee daily workshop production, from fabrication through to final assembly.
• Manage and mentor workshop staff, including fitters, boilermakers, welders and machine operators
• Enforce quality control standards
• Coordinate with engineering, project management and procurement teams to meet delivery deadlines
• Manage workshop safety, housekeeping and compliance
• Oversee use and maintenance of machining and fabrication equipment
• Control workshop budgets, resourcing and productivity targets
Requirements
• Trade qualification (Millwright, Fitter, Boilermaker or similar) or relevant mechanical engineering qualification
• Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a heavy engineering, fabrication or steel manufacturing workshop, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role
• Experience manufacturing large Structures (mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial equipment an advantage)
• Strong understanding of fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly processes
• Proven people management and production planning skills
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems advantageous
• Own transport and valid driver's license
