Job Description
Introduction

The Electrician will perform electrical work related to preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on all plant equipment. The Electrician plays a vital role in the task of ensuring maximum machine availability to production. This is accomplished by constantly improving and not just fitting new parts but doing proper RCA on each breakdown to eliminate the cause by applying first time right. The Electrician will assist outside contractors to perform work on plant equipment and new installations. Will have to perform work during over time when plant is shut and also be available for standby as set out on the standby schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

SAFETY:
β€’ Isolate and report any risk exposure or danger to the Lead Technician.
β€’ Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel surrounding your work area.
β€’ Follow and comply with all the safety rules as prescribed in the company safety policies and do not engage in activities that do not comply.
β€’ Always ensure that your tools are safe for use and do not tamper with any safety devices on equipment or tools.
β€’ Ensure that you have a valid Work-permit with you when engaging in Hot-work, Working at heights, Confined spaces, etc.
β€’ Ensuring that all machines are safe to work on, by implementing the lockout procedure before commencement of work.

AUDITS & INSPECTIONS
β€’ Inspection of tools
β€’ Building electrical installation inspections
β€’ OHS Act inspection lists (ladder inspection, electrical equipment, etc.)
β€’ Plant auditing and running inspections.
β€’ Inspection of fire sprinkler pump house generator and testing.
β€’ Ensure that PM and ATM schedules are conducted.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT
β€’ Support production with difficulties on machine setup and quality issues.
β€’ Assist in faultfinding for electrical and mechanical breakdowns
β€’ Train and share information with Machine Operators at Corruseal.

COMMUNICATION
β€’ Report all machine-related safety issues to Lead Technician.
β€’ Notify the Lead Technician of any spare parts needed and supply correct technical information needed to source and supply parts.
β€’ Build healthy relationships with all staff.
β€’ Responsible for preventing personnel from continuing from engaging in unsafe practices. This applies to contractors and Corruseal personnel.

ADMINISTRATION
β€’ All tasks will be kept up to date daily. This includes job cards, service sheets, leave forms, overtime sheets, etc.

β€’ Wire-man’s license
β€’ Millwright qualification will be an added advantage
β€’ A PLC related course will be an added advantage
β€’ Must have at least 3 years’ experience in maintenance of a high-speed production plant.
β€’ Need to know about preventative maintenance and planning own work schedule.
β€’ Must know how to set up belt, chain and gearbox drive to change electrical motors.
β€’ Be able to troubleshoot basic mechanical problems like changing bearings.
β€’ Must have good fault finding skills.
