CO-OP Restaurant & Lounge, located within The Study at University City, is seeking a polished and service-driven Host / Hostess to serve as the first point of contact for our guests. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming and organized dining experience while managing reservations, guest flow, and communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering a thoughtful and engaging guest experience. This position plays a key role in setting the tone for service and ensuring seamless restaurant operations.

Responsibilities
• Greet and seat guests promptly while delivering a warm and professional first impression.
• Manage reservations and guest flow using OpenTable and other systems.
• Answer and direct phone calls for reservations, guest inquiries, and internal communication.
• Coordinate room service and to-go orders efficiently and accurately.
• Maintain awareness of VIP guests and special requests.
• Handle cash, credit card transactions, and guest room charges accurately.
• Communicate effectively with service staff and kitchen team to support smooth operations.
• Maintain an organized host stand and clean work environment.
• Provide knowledgeable responses to guest questions regarding menus and restaurant offerings.
• Support team members as needed to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

Fundamentals
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with reservation systems such as OpenTable preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in English required; a second language is a plus.
• Ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
