Security Officer Position Overview – Commercial Property

Guardian Security Services is seeking professional Security Officers to support a commercial property in New York City.

This is a client-facing role where officers help maintain the safety and security of the building while providing a professional presence for tenants, guests, and vendors.

The position is ideal for individuals who demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a polished, professional demeanor appropriate for a residential environment.

Security Officers in this role play an important part in maintaining a safe, well-managed property while delivering courteous and attentive service to tenants and visitors.

Security Officer Responsibilities

Security Officers may perform a combination of the following duties depending on site needs:
• Maintain a professional and welcoming presence for residents, guests, and vendors
• Monitor building access points and maintain awareness of building activity
• Conduct routine patrols of interior and exterior areas of the building
• Monitor surveillance cameras and building security systems
• Respond to emergencies and security concerns promptly and professionally
• Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, and daily activity reports
• Assist with package handling and vendor deliveries when required
• Maintain control and documentation of building and concierge keys
• Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violations
• Coordinate with building management and property staff to support daily operations
• Enforce building policies while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor
• Maintain clear communication during shift transitions to ensure operational continuity

Security Officer Qualifications

• Valid New York State Security Guard License
• 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Certificate
• 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Certificate
• Prior experience in residential security, corporate security, concierge security, or customer-facing security roles preferred
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Professional appearance and polished demeanor
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods as required
