Welder I
Join our team as a Welder I, where you will play a key role in setting up and operating advanced welding equipment. You will perform intricate welding operations across diverse metals and alloys, contributing to the fabrication of complex assemblies that require exceptional strength, pressure tolerance, and visual quality.
As a Welder I, your responsibilities will include:
• Assembling and aligning complicated subassemblies and assemblies using various tools and equipment.
• Utilizing a torch or carbon arc and hand grinding tools for part fitting.
• Setting up and controlling pressure for the oxyacetylene torch.
• Selecting the appropriate electrode size, type, and welding rod or wire.
• Regulating gas and current for optimal welding conditions.
• Ensuring precision by checking and straightening gasket surfaces and grinding excess welds.
• Laying out and securing parts, which may involve heavy assemblies.
• Performing MIG/TIG welding as necessary.
• Carrying out preventive maintenance on welding equipment.
• Providing your own personal tools as required.
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by following all safety protocols.
• Working efficiently to conserve resources during production.
• Training team members in welding tasks and techniques.
• Executing thorough inspections of your work to ensure quality standards are met before passing it on.
• Documenting actions by completing production and quality forms.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues across different levels of the organization.
We seek candidates who:
• Possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Have at least one year of formal welding training or equivalent experience (preferred).
• Bring 0-1 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (preferred).
• Are proficient in using small hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely.
• Can read and interpret technical drawings and Bills of Material.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Can perform basic MIG and TIG welding tasks.
The physical demands of this role include:
• Medium to heavy physical demand level, including:
• Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds (with assistance).
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.
• Occasional carrying of up to 40 pounds over short distances.
• Frequent pushing/pulling of up to 40 pounds.
• Occasional pushing/pulling of more than 40 pounds (with assistance).
• Postural demands including continuous standing and walking and frequent bending, squatting, and lifting.
• Miscellaneous demands such as continuous grip and manipulation motions and frequent tool usage.
