No formal academic qualifications are mandated, but candidates must be at least 18 years old and pass a medical fitness test. Employers verify these through the Security Industry Regulatory Framework before hiring.

As per the Ministry of Manpower, applicants must submit a valid NRIC or Work Permit, Security Officer Licence from the Police Licensing & Regulatory Department, and educational certificates during the job application. Additional documents include a recent passport-sized photo, CPF contribution statement, and employment contract signed by the employer. All submissions occur via the MOM Work Pass Online portal at least 7 days before the start date.
