As per the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the adult minimum wage for security guards in New Zealand is NZ$24.00 per hour as of 1 April 2026. Security guards working night shifts or overtime must receive at least 1.5 times this rate after 8 hours in a day. Employers cannot pay below this even on casual contracts.
