Overseas welders require a Skilled Worker visa sponsored by a licensed UK employer with a minimum salary of £38,700 or the going rate for the occupation code 5211. The visa lasts up to 5 years and costs £719 for applications made in 2026. Applicants must also hold a valid Certificate of Sponsorship issued after 6 April 2026.
Q What qualifications and experience are needed to qualify for welder jobs in the United Kingdom?
Welders must hold a Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Welding or equivalent City & Guilds certification plus at least 2 years of documented experience in structural or pipe welding. Applicants must submit a CV, welding qualification certificates, proof of right to work such as a passport or share code, and a DBS check certificate dated within the last 12 months.
