The Opportunity

We're recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Welder / Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturing business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder with fabrication experience who enjoys varied work within a heavy industrial environment. You'll play a key role carrying out welding, fabrication and mechanical maintenance to ensure plant reliability, minimise downtime and support the safe operation of production equipment.

The Role

As part of the engineering team, you'll be responsible for:
• Carrying out MIG, TIG and MMA welding repairs on plant equipment, pipework and structural steelwork.
• Fabricating replacement components, brackets, guards and other bespoke parts.
• Repairing and modifying existing plant equipment using a variety of welding and fabrication techniques.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and mechanical breakdown repairs.
• Installing, maintaining and aligning mechanical equipment.
• Working on hydraulic systems and a range of industrial machinery.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with Permit to Work procedures.
• Assisting with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
• Supervising contractors where required.
• Participating in a rotating shift pattern and providing overtime cover when required.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
• A recognised apprenticeship in Welding, Fabrication or Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous experience as a Maintenance Welder, Welder Fabricator, Fabricator, Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
• Strong welding and fabrication experience gained within manufacturing, heavy engineering or a continuous process environment.
• Experience with MIG, TIG and MMA welding.
• The ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Welding qualifications or certifications.
• Mechanical maintenance experience, including fault finding and repairs.
• Experience working on hydraulic systems.
• Slinging and lifting experience is desirable.
• A proactive approach to health and safety.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit engineering team.
