As per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, there is no statutory minimum wage for plumbers in the private sector as of 2026 but skilled trade contracts must specify at least AED 2,500 per month under Cabinet Decision No. 1 of 2022 wage protection rules. Overtime after 8 hours daily is paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate.

Foreign plumbers require a work permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation followed by a residence visa from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security valid for 2 years. Employers must pay a AED 300 work permit fee and complete medical fitness and Emirates ID issuance within 60 days of entry.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation requires plumbers to hold at minimum a secondary school certificate plus 2 years of documented experience in plumbing systems installation and maintenance for skilled worker classification. Vocational certificates from recognised institutes such as those accredited by the National Qualifications Authority add 1 year equivalence.

Applicants must submit a valid passport, attested educational and experience certificates, passport photos, and a signed employment contract to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation portal. The employer files the application with a labour card fee of AED 300 and medical test results from approved centres.
