As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for drivers in Qatar is 1,000 QAR basic salary plus 500 QAR food allowance and 300 QAR accommodation per month as of 1 January 2026. Overtime for drivers working beyond 8 hours daily must be paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate. This applies to all private sector driver roles under Law No. 17 of 2020.

As per the Ministry of Labour, foreign drivers must obtain a work visa sponsored by a Qatari employer with a valid commercial registration before entry, followed by a residence permit within 90 days. The employer pays all visa fees of 1,000 QAR and medical test costs of 300 QAR. Drivers from visa-exempt countries still require prior approval via the MOL online portal.
