The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour sets the minimum wage for welders at 300 KWD per month in 2026, with overtime paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Employers must pay this amount directly into a local bank account by the 7th of each month.

Foreign welders need a valid work permit from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour plus a residence visa from the Ministry of Interior, requiring a passport valid for 2 years, medical fitness certificate, and police clearance issued within 3 months. The employer sponsors the visa which must be stamped within 60 days of arrival.

Welders must hold at least a secondary school certificate plus 3 years documented experience in arc or MIG welding, verified through attested certificates from the home country embassy. No formal diploma is mandatory but a valid welding certification from an approved institute is checked during permit processing.

Applicants submit a completed Form 1 from MOSAL, attested educational certificates, experience letters, passport copies, 6 photos, and a contract signed by the employer showing 300 KWD minimum salary. All documents require Arabic translation and stamping by the Kuwait Embassy in the home country before submission.
