As per the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the minimum wage for Bahraini nationals in private sector restaurant roles is 300 BHD per month as of 2026, with overtime paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Expatriate restaurant workers have no statutory minimum but contracts must specify at least 250 BHD monthly plus accommodation.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority requires a valid work permit sponsored by the restaurant employer, costing 200 BHD for a 2-year validity, with medical fitness and security clearance completed within 30 days of arrival. Applications must be submitted via the LMRA online portal before starting employment.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Development requires a high school certificate or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience for waiter or kitchen roles, with food safety certification mandatory for all food handlers. No degree is needed for entry-level positions but 2 years experience is required for supervisory roles.

Applicants must submit a valid passport, recent passport photos, educational certificates attested by the Bahraini embassy, and a medical report from an approved center to the employer for LMRA work permit processing. Police clearance certificate is also mandatory for all non-Bahraini applicants.
